A photo that lands in the ledger beats a shoebox. This is capture, not an enterprise T&E suite.

Receipt scanning is a narrower job than expense management. You need: a photo, usable data, and an export a bookkeeper will open. Approvals and corporate cards are the expense-management ranking (Wave C). Do not buy Concur to photograph coffee.
Expensify is the dedicated capture-and-reimburse product. Dext is what many bookkeepers already run. Shoeboxed is mail-in plus app. Wave is $0 if the books already live there.

You do not have a bookkeeper and just need a camera into Wave. Dext is a practice-shaped capture tool.
Why it ranks
- Bookkeepers already have a login. That is the product.
- Line-item extraction and supplier statements are why accountants pick it over a camera roll.
- QBO and Xero are the intended destination.
- Volume tiers are honest: you pay for paper.
Watch-outs
- Overkill for a freelancer with 20 receipts.
- Add-on credits (bank statements, commerce) stack.
- You still have to submit. Dext does not chase the shoebox.
- Practice plans differ from business plans — buy the one your accountant specifies.
