Best bookkeeping software for Etsy sellers (2026)
A close that matches payouts and fees. The Etsy dashboard is not a ledger. Connectors are not a substitute for a file.
By Gregory GreensteinUpdated September 20, 2026Affiliate disclosure
Etsy bookkeeping fails when a payout lands as one deposit and April is a reconstruction of fees, ads, and refunds. The job is: map the payout to sales, fees, and tax, then close a month a CPA will open. Native inventory is a different ranking. The shop dashboard is a channel report, not a general ledger.
Ecommerce accounting is the sibling if you are on Shopify/Amazon at scale. Side-hustle bookkeeping is the sibling if volume is still two invoices and a hobby. This page is Etsy-first: payouts, listing fees, and a file that survives the first 1099-K conversation.
Wave is the $0 default if you will reconcile. QuickBooks Online is the US CPA default. A2X and Synder are connectors — they are not a replacement for a ledger. Do not buy four apps to postpone picking a file.

01
Wave
Year-one Etsy shops that will reconcile a bank feed and keep a $0 file
Public pricing: Accounting and invoicing $0. Wave Pro $19/month or $190/year. Confirm waveapps.com/pricing.
Wave official pricing, reviewed September 21, 2026.
Skip if
A CPA already asked for QBO, or payouts are a mess you will not map by hand. Wave is a starter, not a SKU ledger.
Why it ranks
- A real $0 ledger. That is the first-year shop job.
- Bank feed catches the Etsy payout if you will split it honestly.
- A path you can hand to a CPA if you keep it clean — many will still ask you to move.
- See Is Wave worth it and side-hustle bookkeeping.
Watch-outs
- A lump payout will lie without a journal or a connector later.
- Not inventory on the balance sheet.
- Pro is easy to ignore and keep paying.
- 1099-K and sales tax are not a Wave toggle.
02
QuickBooks Online
Sellers whose CPA already speaks QuickBooks — which is most US CPAs
Public pricing: Simple Start $38/mo; Essentials $85; Plus $140; Advanced $340. Plus is the usual plan if inventory hits the balance sheet. 50% off three-month intros appear.
Intuit public pricing (quickbooks.intuit.com/pricing/), reviewed September 21, 2026.

You only needed a $0 year-one file and will reconcile. Do not buy Plus to look like a brand.
Why it ranks
- The US accountant network is the product.
- A2X and Synder both speak QBO — the connector decision is separate.
- Plus can hold inventory and classes when you add Shopify or a show.
- See Is QuickBooks Online worth it and ecommerce accounting.
Watch-outs
- Simple Start is thin once inventory and ads multiply.
- Payouts dumped as a lump deposit will still lie.
- Payroll and payments are extra.
- List prices stepped in 2026.
03
A2X
Shops whose ledger already lives in QBO or Xero and need payout mappings, not another set of books
Public pricing: A2X publishes plan tiers by channel and volume on a2xaccounting.com. Confirm the live Etsy/Shopify card — we will not freeze a stale per-channel figure.
A2X official site, reviewed September 21, 2026.
Skip if
You do not have a ledger yet. A2X is a connector. Buy Wave or QBO first.
Why it ranks
- The product is the mapping: sales, fees, reserves, payout.
- Built for accountants who refuse a lump deposit.
- Useful the week Etsy Ads and refunds make the bank feed a lie.
- Ranks on ecommerce accounting for the same reason.
Watch-outs
- Not a general ledger. You still pay QBO or Xero.
- Volume tiers exist. Model them.
- Setup is a project. Do not start it in April.
- If you will not reconcile after the summary posts, you bought a journal you will not trust.
04
Synder
Sellers who want a connector with a published on-ramp and multi-channel ambitions
Public pricing: Synder publishes plan tiers on synder.com. Confirm the live card. Promos appear.
Synder official site, reviewed September 21, 2026.
Skip if
You only needed Wave and twelve payouts a year. Synder is more product than a hobby shop.
Why it ranks
- A known alternative when A2X’s packaging does not match the shop.
- Useful if you will add Shopify or Amazon and want one connector story.
- Still a connector, not a ledger — which is honesty.
- See ecommerce accounting for the bake-off.
Watch-outs
- You still need QBO, Xero, or Wave.
- Do not run A2X and Synder on the same file.
- Confirm Etsy support on the live page, not a 2023 blog.
- AI bookkeeping add-ons are not a reason to buy. Aiacent.
How we picked
The job is a US Etsy close: payouts, fees, a file a CPA will open. We scored $0 honesty, CPA adjacency, and whether a connector is sold as a fake ledger. FreshBooks stays off — it is AR, not marketplace payouts. Bench stays off unless volume makes DIY a second job; see Is Bench worth it.
Who should skip this page
- Shopify/Amazon-first brands — ecommerce accounting.
- Hobbyists who will not open a file. Software cannot categorize for you.
- Sellers still mixing payouts with rent. Open a business account first.
- Anyone buying “AI that does Etsy taxes.”
