Calendly vs Acuity (2026)
Calendly is a link people already trust. Acuity is a service menu. Buying the studio tool for a 30-minute intro call is how you overpay.

Verdict
Pick Calendly if the product is a booking link: a sales call, an intro consult, a round-robin between two people. Pick Squarespace Scheduling — the product still called Acuity in half the market — if you sell a menu of services, take a deposit, and need intake before someone sits in the chair. Do not pick either one as a point of sale for a shop that already lives on Square. Square Appointments is that fork. Do not pick either as a salon payroll system.
This is for US consultants, agencies, and appointment businesses under ~50. The appointment ranking is the short list, including Square and Setmore. Salon scheduling is the sibling if the book is colors and chairs. The consultant ops stack is the rest of the pile. We are not ranking AI schedulers that email your calendar for you. That catalog is Aiacent.
Pricing as of September 23, 2026
Calendly’s public card, last read for our appointment ranking on September 20, 2026, lists Standard in a band around $10–$16 per seat per month depending on annual versus monthly. Invitees do not need a seat. Enterprise starts at $15,000 a year with a 50-seat floor. We are not freezing a single Standard dollar from a blog. Open calendly.com/pricing and write down the toggle you are on.
Squarespace Scheduling (formerly Acuity) publishes tiers on squarespace.com/scheduling. Names and monthly numbers have been restacked before. On the September 20 read we would not print a stale Emerging / Growing / Powerhouse grid as fact. Confirm the live monthly price, and confirm whether a Squarespace website plan you already pay changes the scheduling bill. Processing on deposits is extra in the usual way.
- One host, one meeting type: Calendly’s lowest paid seat, or the free tier if it still covers that meeting. Acuity is more software than the link.
- Three stylists and a service menu: Acuity or Square. Calendly seat math is the wrong shape, and it will not run retail.
- Two closers and round-robin: Calendly. You are paying seats for people who host, not for the buyer.
- You already pay for a Squarespace site and the scheduling add-on is the difference: price that delta, not a fantasy migration.
The job
Calendly’s job is to turn a URL into a meeting on a calendar the team already uses, with routing when more than one person can take it. It is good at that. It is not a package, a gift card, or a chair map.
Acuity’s job is a book of services: duration, add-ons, intake forms, packages, and a payment before the appointment. Studios, practitioners, and anyone who sells time as a menu live there. You are also in the Squarespace universe. Leaving later means the site and the book may be the same vendor. That is fine if you wanted it. It is a project if you did not.
Neither tool is the CRM. A consultant who needs a pipeline still wants HubSpot or Pipedrive, with the scheduler connected. A photographer who needs a proposal and a retainer wants HoneyBook or the photographer stack, not a naked booking link. Connecting two tools is allowed. Letting both of them email the client reminders is how you look disorganized.
Who should pick which
- Solo founder, one intro call, calendar is Google: Calendly.
- A practice with three services, a form, and a deposit: Acuity.
- A salon or barber already on Square: Square Appointments. Do not add Acuity to get a prettier link.
- A two-person sales team that round-robins demos: Calendly. Acuity will feel like a studio you do not run.
- You need employee shift swaps, not client booking: that is employee scheduling. Different page.
When you outgrow both
A clinic, a gym with class packs, or a multi-location salon will outgrow a generic scheduler. Class packs and memberships are a studio operating system — see the gym stack before you force Acuity to be Mindbody. A sales team that needs lead routing inside the CRM should book from HubSpot or the CRM’s meeting tool once the second system is the leak. Enterprise Calendly at $15,000 is a different buyer than this page.
Export upcoming appointments before you cancel. Run one live link. A Calendly URL in the email signature and an Acuity link on the site is two books.
