Best appointment scheduling software (2026)
A shop needs a booking link that does not double-book. Not a marketing cloud, and not an AI receptionist bake-off.

Appointment software fails when the owner still texts “does Tuesday work?” The job is: a public booking page, calendar truth, and a reminder. Salons, consultants, and clinics are different flavors of the same job.
Calendly wins for consultants who live in Google Calendar. Squarespace Scheduling (Acuity) wins for service menus and intake. Square Appointments wins when the register is already Square. Setmore is the cheap multi-staff on-ramp.
Prices as of September 20, 2026. Calendly’s public seat rates sit in the low-to-mid teens. We are not ranking AI phone agents — Aiacent can have those.
The short list
Public list prices as of September 20, 2026. Promos change. Confirm on the vendor page before you buy.
| # | Product | Best for | Public starting price | Score |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Calendly | Consultants and salespeople who need a booking link, not a salon POS | Public seat plans commonly list Standard around $10–$16/seat/month depending on annual vs monthly. Enterprise starts at $15,000/year on the public card (50-seat floor). Invitees do not need a seat. Confirm calendly.com/pricing. | 8.4 |
| 2 | Squarespace Scheduling | Studios and practitioners with service menus, intake forms, and packages | Squarespace Scheduling (formerly Acuity) publishes Emerging / Growing / Powerhouse-style tiers on squarespace.com/scheduling. Confirm the live monthly numbers — Squarespace restacks packaging. Often more than Calendly Standard when you need the salon feature set. | 8.2 |
| 3 | Square Appointments | Shops that already take cards on Square and want bookings on the same login | Square publishes Free / Plus / Premium software; Appointments rides that family. Free software still charges processing (in-person 2.6% + 15¢ on the POS pages we reviewed). Paid location plans $49 / $149. Confirm squareup.com appointments and POS pricing. | 8.0 |
| 4 | Setmore | Small teams that want a free-or-cheap booking page and SMS reminders | Setmore publishes a free plan and inexpensive paid staff plans on setmore.com/pricing. Confirm live seat caps — the free tier is how they grow paid. | 7.6 |

Calendly
Consultants and salespeople who need a booking link, not a salon POS

You sell 40-minute colors with add-on waxing and retail. That is Squarespace Scheduling or Square Appointments.
Why it ranks
- The link is the product. Round-robin and routing exist when you have two closers.
- Invitees do not pay. That matters.
- Integrations with Zoom, Meet, and CRMs are table stakes done cleanly.
- A known brand clients already trust clicking.
Watch-outs
- Not a point of sale.
- Seat math: anyone who hosts needs a seat.
- Enterprise is a different buyer than a two-person shop.
- Do not buy it to run a barbershop.

Squarespace Scheduling
Studios and practitioners with service menus, intake forms, and packages
Public pricing: Squarespace Scheduling (formerly Acuity) publishes Emerging / Growing / Powerhouse-style tiers on squarespace.com/scheduling. Confirm the live monthly numbers — Squarespace restacks packaging. Often more than Calendly Standard when you need the salon feature set.

You only need one meeting type and a calendar link. Calendly is less software.
Why it ranks
- Services, add-ons, and intake are first-class — the studio job.
- Packages and gift cards match how those businesses actually sell.
- A website and scheduling can share a vendor if you already pay Squarespace.
- Staff calendars without pretending you are a SaaS AE.
Watch-outs
- You are in the Squarespace universe. Leaving is a project.
- Processing if you take deposits is extra in the usual way.
- Overkill for “30-minute intro call.”
- Confirm current tier names; Acuity branding still appears in old blogs.
03
Square Appointments
Shops that already take cards on Square and want bookings on the same login
Public pricing: Square publishes Free / Plus / Premium software; Appointments rides that family. Free software still charges processing (in-person 2.6% + 15¢ on the POS pages we reviewed). Paid location plans $49 / $149. Confirm squareup.com appointments and POS pricing.

You are not on Square and do not want to be. Do not buy a POS to get a booking link.
Why it ranks
- The booking becomes a payment without a second merchant account.
- Staff and services live next to the register.
- Good default for a barber, nail desk, or trainer already on Square.
- Hardware path if you later want a counter.
Watch-outs
- Processing is the real bill.
- Plus/Premium are per location.
- Consultants without a shop should not start here.
- Payout holds are Square’s rules.

You need Calendly-grade routing or a full salon POS. Setmore is the inexpensive calendar.
Why it ranks
- Price is the point for a two-chair shop testing online booking.
- SMS reminders reduce no-shows without a Square stack.
- Staff calendars exist before you graduate.
- Lower ceremony than Squarespace if you do not need a rebuilt site.
Watch-outs
- Free caps will find you.
- Less brand gravity than Calendly for B2B consults.
- Payments are an add-on story — read the current processor.
- If you already pay Square, stay there.
How we picked
The job is SMB booking: calendar truth, reminders, and (when needed) deposits. We scored published prices, vertical fit, and whether the product is a link or a shop system. Cal.com is a fine self-host fork; we kept the list to products a Main Street owner will finish.
