Best scheduling software for salons (2026)
A book that does not double-book. Calendly is not a salon OS. Payroll is a sibling page.

Salon scheduling fails when the book lives in three apps and a paper column, and two colors land at 2 p.m. The job is: services, add-ons, staff calendars, deposits, and a reminder the client will see. This is not employee shift scheduling — that ranking is for hourly rosters. This is the client book.
Boulevard is the salon OS you pay for when memberships and a modern book matter. Square Appointments wins when the register is already Square and you want published processing plus payroll next door. Squarespace Scheduling (Acuity) wins for service menus without a POS religion. Setmore is the cheap multi-staff on-ramp.

You are one chair and wanted a $0 booking link this week. Square Appointments or Setmore is the narrower buy. Or you will not run memberships — do not buy an OS for a calendar.
Why it ranks
- The book, memberships, and client self-serve are the product — the multi-chair job.
- A known brand when you hire a front-desk person who already used it.
- Useful when Square feels like a register pretending to be a salon.

Watch-outs
- You cannot compare Boulevard to Square Free without numbers.
- Switching the book is a renovation. Do not do it for a blog aesthetic.
- Processing is the second price. Model it.
- One chair with four clients a week does not need this.
