Best accounting software for ecommerce (2026)
The job is a close that matches payouts, not a spreadsheet of Shopify deposits. Inventory and ads tools are different pages.
By Gregory GreensteinUpdated September 20, 2026Affiliate disclosure
Ecommerce accounting fails when Shopify, Amazon, and the bank each tell a different story. The job is: map payouts to sales, fees, and tax, then close a month a CPA will open. Native inventory is a different ranking. AI ad tools stay on Aiacent.
QuickBooks Online is the US default ledger. Xero wins when the advisor is already there. A2X and Synder are connectors — they are not a replacement for a general ledger. Do not buy four apps to postpone picking a file.
Prices as of September 20, 2026. QBO Plus is $140/month list because inventory and the close are the job. Wave is a starter, not a SKU ledger — see Is Wave worth it. This is not tax advice on inventory methods.
The short list
Public list prices as of September 20, 2026. Promos change. Confirm on the vendor page before you buy.
| # | Product | Best for | Public starting price | Score |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | QuickBooks Online | US sellers whose CPA already speaks QuickBooks — which is most of them | Simple Start $38/mo; Essentials $85; Plus $140; Advanced $340. Plus is the usual ecommerce plan (inventory, projects, tracking). 50% off three-month intros appear. | 8.4 |
| 2 | Xero | Sellers with a Xero-fluent bookkeeper or multi-currency storefronts | US Early $25/mo; Growing $55; Established $90 as of this review. From October 1, 2026 Xero lists $27 / $59 / $97. Early’s invoice/bill caps are a bad fit for daily storefront volume. | 8.2 |
| 3 | A2X | Brands that already have QBO or Xero and need Amazon/Shopify payouts summarized correctly | A2X publishes channel-and-volume plans on a2xaccounting.com/pricing (order-volume tiers; Shopify and Amazon are separate subscriptions). Confirm the live calculator — we will not freeze a stale $19–$99 grid from a 2024 blog. | 8.0 |
| 4 | Synder | Sellers who want a broader commerce-to-ledger sync (Stripe, PayPal, Shopify) without A2X’s Amazon-first reputation | Synder publishes plan tiers on synder.com/pricing. Confirm live volume and channel caps — packaging moves. Treat the official calculator as the price. | 7.6 |

QuickBooks Online
US sellers whose CPA already speaks QuickBooks — which is most of them
Public pricing: Simple Start $38/mo; Essentials $85; Plus $140; Advanced $340. Plus is the usual ecommerce plan (inventory, projects, tracking). 50% off three-month intros appear.

Your bookkeeper is a Xero shop, or you only need a $0 year-one file with no inventory. Do not buy Advanced to look like a brand.
Why it ranks
- The US accountant network is the product. Switching later costs more than the subscription.
- Plus can hold inventory and classes when channels multiply.
- A2X and Synder both speak QBO — the connector decision is separate.
- Same family as Workforce if the warehouse hire is a W-2.
Watch-outs
- Simple Start is thin for SKUs. Budget Plus if inventory hits the balance sheet.
- Payouts dumped as a lump deposit will still lie without a connector or a careful journal.
- Payroll and payments are extra subscriptions.
- List prices stepped in 2026. Your renewal may disagree with a 2025 post.
02
Xero
Sellers with a Xero-fluent bookkeeper or multi-currency storefronts
Public pricing: US Early $25/mo; Growing $55; Established $90 as of this review. From October 1, 2026 Xero lists $27 / $59 / $97. Early’s invoice/bill caps are a bad fit for daily storefront volume.

Your CPA will only log into QuickBooks and will bill you to re-learn Xero.
Why it ranks
- Unlimited users on published plans — founder plus bookkeeper without a seat tax.
- Established adds multi-currency and projects that match cross-border brands.
- A2X’s Xero path is a known close.
- Bank rec is why people stay.
Watch-outs
- Early is not an ecommerce plan.
- US payroll is usually Gusto next door.
- October 1, 2026 increase is public.
- If nobody in your life knows Xero, onboarding is on you.
03
A2X
Brands that already have QBO or Xero and need Amazon/Shopify payouts summarized correctly
Public pricing: A2X publishes channel-and-volume plans on a2xaccounting.com/pricing (order-volume tiers; Shopify and Amazon are separate subscriptions). Confirm the live calculator — we will not freeze a stale $19–$99 grid from a 2024 blog.
A2X official pricing (a2xaccounting.com), reviewed September 20, 2026.

You have no ledger yet. A2X is a connector, not a set of books. Buy QBO or Xero first.
Why it ranks
- Settlements become journals a human can explain: sales, fees, tax, ads.
- The reason ecommerce closes stop being a monthly fight.
- Works next to QBO or Xero instead of pretending to replace them.
- A known path when your bookkeeper says “just get A2X.”
Watch-outs
- You pay per channel. Amazon plus Shopify is two bills.
- Volume tiers jump when you have a good month. Model peak, not January.
- Bad SKU mapping in means bad journals out.
- Not inventory software. See the ecommerce inventory ranking.
04
Synder
Sellers who want a broader commerce-to-ledger sync (Stripe, PayPal, Shopify) without A2X’s Amazon-first reputation
Public pricing: Synder publishes plan tiers on synder.com/pricing. Confirm live volume and channel caps — packaging moves. Treat the official calculator as the price.
Synder official pricing (synder.com), reviewed September 20, 2026.

Your bookkeeper already standardized on A2X for Amazon. Do not run two connectors into one file.
Why it ranks
- Useful when the leak is Stripe and PayPal next to the storefront, not only Amazon settlements.
- A second opinion when A2X’s channel mix does not match your stack.
- Sync into QBO or Xero remains the point.
- Can be the right buy for a hybrid services-plus-shop seller.
Watch-outs
- Two connectors is how you double-post. Appoint one.
- Confirm which channels are first-class on your plan.
- Still not a replacement for a CPA at year-end.
- Implementation is mapping, not a toggle.
How we picked
The job is a closeable ecommerce year for US sellers under ~50. We scored ledger familiarity, payout mapping, published prices, and whether the product is a file or a connector. FreshBooks is for invoices, not SKU inventory. Wave is year-one only.
