Best invoicing software for contractors (2026)
The job is a job, then a bill. Field software wins when the invoice is attached to the visit. A freelancer invoice tool wins when you only send paper after the work.

Contractors do not have an AR department. An invoice that is not attached to the job, the quote, and the card-on-file is how you chase Saturday HVAC calls in December. This page is for US trades and field service — plumbers, landscapers, cleaners, remodelers — not freelance writers. Writers have their own invoicing ranking.
Jobber and Housecall Pro are field platforms that invoice. FreshBooks and QuickBooks are money tools that can invoice a contractor. Pick the job first.

- The mobile job experience is not Jobber.
- Payroll and payments are extra subscriptions.
- Simple Start is thin for job costing. Budget Plus if that is the job.
