Pipedrive vs HubSpot for small sales teams in 2026

Pipedrive wins when reps will live in a board. HubSpot wins when Free (or Starter) is a shared file marketing will inherit. Do not buy Professional to look like a company.

Verdict

Pick Pipedrive if a small sales team — two to fifteen people who actually update deals — needs a pipeline-first CRM and you will pay from month one for a product that looks like a board, not a customer platform. Pick HubSpot if the team is still founder-led, Free is enough, or marketing will share the file this year and you have read the contact-tier math. Do not pick HubSpot Professional “because we might do campaigns.” Do not pick Pipedrive Lite to save money and then live in Gmail.

This is complementary to HubSpot vs Pipedrive — that page is the brand fork. This page is the small sales-team motion: seats, stages, and whether reps will open the tool on Monday. HubSpot Free CRM vs paid is the Starter conversation. How to evaluate CRM pricing for small teams is the method. Best CRM for small sales teams is the short list. AI email writers are not a reason to choose either. Those catalogs stay on Aiacent.

Board vs platform

Pipedrive’s deal pipeline is the UI. That is why reps update it. Growth is the small-team plan that matters: automation without the Premium tax. LeadBooster, Campaigns, and Projects stay optional add-ons. You are buying a sales CRM. You are not buying a suite that wants marketing contacts next quarter. Close is the third fork if the floor is still a phone — see Pipedrive vs Close.

HubSpot’s free CRM is good enough to replace a spreadsheet for a two-person motion. Email logging, meeting links, and a shared record do not require procurement. The gravity is the rest of the customer platform. Contact and marketing-contact math is how a cheap HubSpot bill becomes a surprise. Five sellers sharing Free by logging into one account is not a seat strategy. Starter at $20/seat list is the usual first real bill.

A sales team under ~50 does not need both. Two systems of record (Free HubSpot plus Pipedrive) is how follow-ups die. Appoint one. Export before you are angry if you leave. How to choose a CRM for solo founders is the page if there is not yet a team — Free HubSpot or a thin Pipedrive is a different conversation than five sellers.

Public pricing as of September 21, 2026

HubSpot: free CRM tools at $0 with contact limits. Starter Customer Platform list $20 per seat per month. Limited-time Starter rates around $7/seat annually or $10/seat monthly have been advertised — promotions, not the forever number. Sales Hub Professional is commonly listed around $90/seat/month billed annually plus required onboarding. Confirm hubspot.com/pricing/crm.

Pipedrive annual: Lite $14, Growth $39, Premium $59, Ultimate $79 per seat per month. Monthly: $24 / $49 / $79 / $99. Fourteen-day trial. VAT extra where it applies. There is no durable free plan. Confirm pipedrive.com/en/pricing.

  • Five sellers, HubSpot Free: $0, with the usual contact-limit and feature ceiling.
  • Five sellers, HubSpot Starter at list: 5 × $20 = $100/month before promos.
  • Five sellers, Pipedrive Growth annual: 5 × $39 = $195/month, billed upfront.
  • Five sellers, Pipedrive Lite annual: 5 × $14 = $70/month — thin once you want automation.
  • HubSpot Sales Hub Professional at ~$90/seat plus onboarding is a different budget than either Starter or Growth. Write the onboarding line.

Who should pick which

  • Reps will live in stages and you will pay for a board: Pipedrive Growth.
  • Founder-closer plus a marketer who will operate from this file: HubSpot Starter, eyes open.
  • You only needed a shared inbox and a meeting link: HubSpot Free. Do not buy Pipedrive yet.
  • You dial all day: Close, not this fork.
  • You will not administer Zoho: do not pick Zoho just to stay cheap. See HubSpot vs Zoho CRM.
  • Studio or wedding motion: HoneyBook. A sales CRM is the wrong aisle.

Skip-ifs

Skip Pipedrive if nobody will update a board. Skip HubSpot if contact math already hurts or you will never run marketing from this file. Skip both if the leak is a phone and you needed Close. Skip Professional to impersonate a revenue org. Rankings are not for sale. Official URLs only.
